Claiming that the proposed ‘Tax Amnesty Bill’ was aiming to facilitate crooked businessmen loyal to the Government to legitimate money amassed through illegal channels, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) said they were planning to go to court against this Bill (22.07.2021)

Main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Eran Wickramaratne filed a petition on 22.07.2021 in the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the Finance bill which seeks to authorise tax amnesties and write-offs default taxes.
